BreastFest
alpha Kappa Delta Phi’s national philanthropy is Breast Cancer Awareness. While we spend the entire year working to serve our campus and community, our sisters across the nation dedicate the month of October to Breast Cancer Awareness.
Each year, aKDPhi at the University of Oklahoma hosts Breastfest, a month long event dedicated to raising money and awareness for breast cancer. Throughout October, our chapter holds educational events, bake sales, benefit nights, and our male pageant, Mr. Pink. Mr. Pink was first introduced here at our chapter in order to raise awareness about breast cancer in men and consists of performances by our talented contestants as well as a raffle drawing with amazing prizes!
The Southwest Region of aKDPhi has consistently raised the most amount of money each year, and in 2020, our chapter alone raised over $12,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness. We look forward to another successful Breastfest this upcoming fall and can’t wait to share our love and dedication for service with the community!
invASIAN
Chi Chapter is known as the creator of invASIAN, a philanthropy event held with the goals of trying to break the chains of social stigmas that Asians can only be successful in the STEM field. This event allows Asian Americans to fully express themselves creatively in the fine arts field. Their amazing talents such as dancing, singing, poetry, and videography creates a sense of enlightenment and inspiration in the Asian American community here in Oklahoma. Each year, we bring out famous Asian Americans in the media industry as our guest speaker to learn about their upbringings and stories while also witnessing their amazing talent. Our past guest speakers include Yoshi and Peter Sudarso, The Lor Brothers from Kinjaz, JR Aquino, Wong Fu Productions, and many more. For our 12th annual invASIAN showcase, we were fortunate enough to bring out the amazing dancer and choreographer Sorah Yang while hosting our first ever dance workshop with her.
